1. Operation of the Site
The Site is provided by Unilever UK Central Resources Ltd for use by any individual or third party wishing to connect with Unilever through the Unilever Foundry (the "Parties"). This site is also used by Unilever Group companies* (individually and collectively referred to as "Unilever", "we", "us" and "our").
2. The Unilever Foundry
On the "Challenges" page of our site, we publish information about Challenges faced by Unilever and its brands and functions. The Challenges page is where you can respond to challenges faced by our brands and functions and get involved in creating solutions in two ways**:
(1) Private submissions to The Foundry via ‘Pitch to Pilot'.
If you are a startup, an innovator, creative or individual and you have a solution, a proposal or a technology which will solve the Challenge, you can submit your solution confidentially to The Foundry via this process in order to seek a pilot, investment or mentorship with Unilever Ventures for your solution. The procedure and the terms of entering the Pitch to Pilot Process are described in detail below.
(2) Engagement in a public ideation contest to win prizes via Foundry IDEAS.
If you are an individual or a company who is interested in publicly collaborating to solve challenges and have the chance to win a prize then you can also respond to the Challenge by joining our Foundry IDEAS community. Foundry IDEAS is a social ideation community which engages individuals and companies to contribute their ideas and find solutions.
When you click to respond to a Challenge by posting an idea, you will be redirected to the Foundry IDEAS platform. To join the IDEAS community and start posting your ideas, you will be required to create an IDEAS account using your LinkedIn, Facebook or Google log in details, or create your own account if you do not have a LinkedIn, Facebook or Google account. When you create an IDEAS account, you will be asked to agree to the IDEAS Terms of Service which govern your submissions, the community and the competitions to win the prizes. IDEAS is powered by Unilever's partner Mindjet and Unilever is not responsible for its availability or for information or content.
FOUNDRY PILOT: THE PITCH TO PILOT PROCESS
4. Registration for Foundry Pilot: Pitch To Pilot
If you click to submit a proposal through the Site via the ‘Pitch to Pilot Process' you will be required to create a Unilever Foundry account using your LinkedIn, Facebook or Google log in details, or create your own account if you do not have a LinkedIn or Facebook account.
By creating a Unilever Foundry account, you agree to these website Terms and Conditions as well as our privacy and cookie policies. Once you have created your account and logged in, you will be able to complete the online application form and submit your ‘Pitch' proposal to the Unilever Foundry.
5. Foundry Pilot: The Application Process
To submit a proposal, you must complete the Foundry application form for the applicable Challenge. The Foundry application form will ask for information about you, or your company, your team, and how your product may solve the challenge in question. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when completing the form and you agree to keep your information up to date.
All applications received by The Foundry will be routed to Unilever's trusted third party partners ("Scouts") and reviewed by them independently of Unilever. All applicants will be notified by the relevant scouts / Unilever within 4 weeks of the application deadline and informed as to whether or not their proposal has been short-listed.
The Scouts will only share shortlisted proposals with Unilever. By submitting your proposal, you acknowledge that the Foundry and the Scouts are not obliged to share it with Unilever and that submitting your proposal is no guarantee that it will be shared with Unilever.
To apply for investments please find out more from Unilever Ventures.
6. Foundry Pilot: The Pitch Process
Approximately five short-listed applicants for each Pilot Challenge will be invited by Unilever to a Pitch-day, where they will have the opportunity to deliver a 20 minute pitch (including Q&A) to a Unilever and experts panel. If the pitch is successful, applicants will be invited to co-create with relevant Unilever leaders and agencies and run a pilot.
As part of the application process you are advised to share non-confidential information only. If confidential information is shared, this may result in your application being rejected by the Scouts responsible for filtering applications before they reach Unilever.
Prior to any confidential discussions, you will be asked to sign a separate non-disclosure agreement with Unilever so that any confidential information that is subsequently shared, is protected.
If you submit an idea or suggestion as part of your application or during the pilot, you acknowledge that Unilever, a Unilever Group company or a third party acting on its/their behalf, may have previously worked on or may be working on the same or a similar idea. By submitting your idea, you agree that we may continue to develop the idea (or a similar idea) independently of, and without acknowledging, your idea.
8. Intellectual Property
You warrant that you own the rights in any information you share with Unilever in your application and any information supplied to Unilever does not infringe the intellectual property rights, confidentiality or the rights of any third party. You will retain ownership of all protected intellectual property included your application. In the event that your proposal is selected to pilot, you will be required to enter into a mutually agreed contract with Unilever which will set out the commercial terms of the pilot, including the rights and obligations relating to the parties' respective intellectual property.
